For this patt...Hi Tamara,
Thank you for your visit.
For this pattern, I did not do a FBA. The pattern is casual enough that I wouldn't mind too much if the shoulders drop a bit (and they are). I just graded the pattern: sliced both front and back in the middle of the shoulder and add some ease (difference between my measurements and the largest size divided by 4 - lets say, I needed 2 inches more around my chest, I add 1/2 on the front and back pieces). As for FBA, I've done it and it is not that complicated. I have followed the Curvy Sewing Collective tutorial and it worked very well http://curvysewingcollective.com/the-beginners-guide-full-bust-adjustment/. Megan Nielsen has also a tuto http://blog.megannielsen.com/2012/04/how-to-do-a-full-bust-adjustment-fba/. You should really try it, it makes a big difference on how the clothes hang on you and I found I am not wearing tents anymore.
Good luck! So you didn't do a FBA? If you do one in the near future
I'd love to see your adjustment. It scares me silly! I too need 3-4 inches added bust and hips, but not shoulders. Thanks.
